    This year marks the 75th anniversary of Congregation Kehilas Yakov Sulitza, named after the Chassidic dynasty that began in Sulitza Romania. From the start the shul has been known for its warmth, connection, tradition and true varemkeit.

      Sulitz is a close-knit community of over 100 members who proudly call this shul their home. When the Sulitza Rebbe זצ"ל arrived in Far Rockaway, he brought new life and warmth with him, sharing the mesorah of his dynasty with a community eager to carry it forward.

     The shul is always alive, with shiurim and minyanim happening day and night. It’s an open place where anyone can walk in and feel welcome. There is a day and night kollel, a thriving Avos Ubonim program, and a filled schedule of minyanim throughout the day.

     Sulitza also has a 24-hour mikvah and a gmach that helps couples facing the heavy financial burden of marrying off children, done quietly and with dignity.

     The Rebbe שליט"א is a true role model for the entire kehilah and is always available with guidance, warmth, and wisdom for anyone who needs it, especially during challenging times. He’s constantly thinking of ways to help people in a tznius way. The shul has an open-door policy-there’s no lock on the door. As the Rebbe says “you don’t lock the door to a Bais Midrash”. There’s always a table with mezonos and a beverage station in the foyer, so anyone who is hungry can stop in and take something.

     Chesed is always happening here. The shul has a strong kollel, supports a Tehillim kollel at the Kossel davening for the community, and is filled with people who care about one another.

     The Rebbe שליט"א shows us every day, following in his father’s footsteps, that true concern isn’t just something you feel, it’s something you act on, as seen in the many people and organizations he has quietly helped. אי"ה the shul continues to grow and go veiter and veiter.
